What
Imaging Program Is Winning Your Heart?
by Troy Segler, VP of Programs August 2005
It is my
privilege to invite you to our August general meeting of the Oklahoma City
Computer Club. We strive to bring you information that will make your
computing experience most enjoyable. This month you will learn about the MS
Digital Imaging Suite 10. The presentation will be conducted
by Charlene Francis and J. P. Williams.
These two persons have been volunteering in many ways
to assist both newbies and those experienced in computing to gain confidence
and knowledge through their efforts.
MS Digital Image Suite 10 offers imaging technology
that puts you in control of organizing, editing and enhancing your photos. A
number of companies are in the business of providing imaging programs.
Microsoft has graciously provided
our club with a copy of their product. Charlene and J. P. will put the
pieces together using their experiences with other programs.
This suite consists of two programs: Digital Image Pro
10, which is the image editor, and a separate (but integrated) Digital Image
Library, designed to help you organize your photos. The library allows you
to search by keywords, dates, ratings and more to help you locate pictures
you want from your collection of photos. The editor has advanced editing
features such as Selection Tools, Smart Erase and the Blending Brush which
helps you get professional editing results easily. When editing of your
photos is finished, it is a simple process to automatically stitch together
a panorama from multiple pictures, create prints or share your photos
through e-mail on the Web.
Charlene Francis is the SeniorNet* representative for
Oklahoma City and the leader of the SeniorNet Users Group (SNUG). The
SeniorNet group is affiliated with the Oklahoma City Computer Club.
*SeniorNet is an International non-profit
organization that has established and supported 240 plus Learning Centers
since 1986. Their mission is to enhance the lives of older adults through
their use of computers and the Internet, enabling them to share their
knowledge and wisdom with other generations and with the world. Their
by-line is “Bringing Wisdom to the Information Age.”
J. P. became associated with the Computer Club of
Oklahoma City over 10 years ago after retiring from Tinker. He has been a
leader of several study groups. J. P. developed an interest in imaging long
ago while working with family records and is the current Imaging study group
leader. He is currently the Study Group leader of Imaging Plus. Members of
the club have learned to respect his knowledge and approach to computing.
We will begin the meeting at 7:00 PM on the 18th
of August. Come to Suite 201 of the 3000 Center Building. A map is provided
on our Website: www.ccokc.org .
Attendees on the third Thursday of July heard a very impressive presentation
by Calvin Weeks regarding the sanctity of computer systems and methods used
by computer bullies to create havoc on our machines. He said it is becoming
easier for these persons to gain control of our computer.
Wishing you a good month, I am, Troy Segler.

Coffee and
refreshments will be available for the taking and soft drinks are
available at a cost of $.50. Invite a friend to join you
for this meeting. I wish to thank all those who have regularly attended
these meetings.
