Review
of the August General Meeting 2005
by David Robbins
Charlene Francis and JP Williams made an
excellent presentation of Microsoft’s Digital
Image Suite 10 at the August
General Meeting. Digital manipulation has improved since I first became
aware it quite a few years ago and Microsoft has almost put it in the “just
click a few buttons” category. Digital Image Suite 10 allows you to make
changes and improvements to your image with little effort and does a
beautiful job of it.
There is Digital Imaging Pro 10 and the Digital
Image Suite 10, I would prefer the much more capable Digital Imaging Suite
10. In addition, the Suite includes the Photo Story software, which makes
slide shows from your pictures with sound (music or narration) in just
minutes. Your vacation pictures or pictures of the children can be put in a
slide show
and sent to friends or relatives so they can enjoy it even with
out a computer.
Organizing and categorizing your photos has been
made easier with the Digital Imaging Suite 10. You can flag pictures of a
subject (flowers) and all of the flagged pictures will be called up into one
group no matter where they are located. Smart Erase can remove offending
objects in a photo with little work compared to the old way of cloning pixel
by pixel. Red Eye is easily removed with just a couple clicks of the mouse.
Facial imperfections can be easily removed.
There are many features already in this software, but with these new
capabilities there is so much you can do and with less effort than before.
Here is listed some of the new features:
- Acquire and Organize
- Flag photos for editing or printing
- Edit and Face Touch-up
- Panoramic stitching
- Color and Saturation Toolset
- Exposure and Lighting Toolset
- Level and Curve Correction Tools
- Selection Brush and Mask
- Advanced Noise reduction
- Autofix for Color, Exposure and more
- Create and Share Photos
- Turn Photos into Video with Photo Story 2.0
