May 2006 General Meeting -  Web Design Meeting Great Success

     by Troy Segler

The May general meeting has to be considered one of our most successful in view of the amount of interaction between the audience and the speaker. Art Bartraw made a presentation on web page design that would empower every one to carefully construct an informative web page with an attractive layout. It was obvious Art knew his subject well and could easily articulate his thoughts. He logically carried us through the steps of developing an outstanding page that would easily encourage friends and family to become a closer part of our activities.

Art emphasized that one needs to optimize the selection of fonts, colors and formats to provide a desirable image of the person owning the web page. One of his suggestions was that we could find information about color palettes at www.webblogging.com. Don’t you hate it when you arrive at a web page or open an email and the background colors mask the written or pictorial information? Many persons suffer color blindness and that makes it especially difficult for them. It was obvious Art has a great deal of experience in designing web pages. We were provided all the HTML operatives necessary to construct our presentation. He said some IP providers will give a subscriber space on their server for locating their web page.

At the conclusion of the meeting Art handed out a thorough description of his presentation and stated that he contained his personal ideas but that we could utilize his thoughts. Should you want to share his presentation with others, remember to give Art his due? For those unable to attend the May general meeting, you will probably find a friend willing to make a copy of Art’s presentation for your perusal.

At the conclusion of the meeting a membership in the Computer Club was won by Tyler Wheeler, who accompanied his grand dad to the meeting. Also, visitor, Twila Howard received a copy of “Click and Burn”. Marvin Davis was selected to receive the HP Photosmart 8450 printer and Belle Hervey was selected to receive the APC Surge Proctor.

Join us next month for another informative meeting.
