President's Corner:  “State of the Club”

by David Robbins our incoming President for 2005

In the last few years we have seen many changes in the Computer Club: the Monitor moving from a hard copy publication to an electronic publication, the relocation of the General Meetings, replacing the title of SIGs to Study Groups and renaming the club itself.
There are members on the board who work much of the mundane, repetitive jobs which if not done this club would suffer. Just to name a few: Joy Melton, who has been the Treasurer for many years (I won’t say how many); Al Knebel, who works the numbers for the budget every year; and Isaac Franklin, who has taken care of the Study Groups. Then there is Troy Segler, who works miracles with the General Meeting every month (if you know of someone who can present an interesting subject, let him know; he is always looking) and Jack Milner who sits in his office for hours on end keeping the member data base up to date.
Bill James, President of the Computer Club of Oklahoma City and the Board of Directors have brought about these changes for the benefit of club members. There has been a lot of hard work put into the Website, which is supported by Bill James and Fran Crane. I ask you to help support the eMonitor by subscribing for monthly notification.
There are many others that contribute to the club in many ways.
I hope that in the new year there will many interesting meetings and much helpful information contributed by our members to our members. I think the club will be a viable group with helpful support for it’s members and able to make changes to accomplish this in the coming years.
There is one thought to keep in mind when we talk about a club: a club is the members. Without this glue there will be no club, no place to meet, no support on a personal level and no camaraderie.
I wish the New Year would bring much good will to you.
There is to be a planning meeting on the third Saturday; if you have a constructive suggestion or an idea that you think might help the club, let me know or one of the board members (listed on the Website).
